ÓSCAR GÓMEZ MONASTERIO

PARTNER / LAWYER

Law Degree by the University of Seville and a Master’s degree in Corporate Law by ICADE, Universidad Pontificia de Comillas. He began his professional career as a lawyer at GARRIGUES, in the Labour Law Department. In 2002 he joined the firm BALMS ABOGADOS, where he is currently Partner and the Director of the Litigation Law Department. During his professional career, he has specialised in Administrative Law and Urban Planning Law, having advised both, companies and Public Administrations. This experience has allowed him to participate as an advisor in important urban and real estate projects, as well as in hotel projects. Due to his extensive training in Labour Law, he has also provided advisory services to large companies in this area, both in the litigation field and in collective disputes and collective bargaining. He is also currently a lecturer at the Alliance Manchester Business School in England, where he teaches “Negotiation Skills” within the Global MBA study programme. Languages: Spanish and English.

KATJA BLACKMER

Dr. Iur. Katharina Blackmer. Doctorate in Law, University of Vienna, Austria; Austrian jurist and licensed lawyer in Spain; Practicing in Spain since 1994. Dr. Katharina Blackmer has vast experience in Private International Law and European Law. Due to her international training and the number of languages she speaks, she is dedicated to legally representing and advising international clients, both individuals and businesses, amongst those a highly reputable multinational pharmaceutical Asian company The area of expertise has a particular focus on property law, corporate law ( merger and restructuring of national and international companies), inheritance law, intellectual property (art law) in connection with national and international tax law. As a partner of Balms Abogados since 2000, she works closely with all the law firms of Balms Group International (BGI), the first association of independent law firms. Dr. Katharina Blackmer also has hold several seminars organized by the Austrian Chamber of Commerce, Madrid. After completing her secondary education in Vienna, Munich, and St. Gallen, she studied Law at the University of Vienna and later studied at the University of Alcalá de Henares and the University of Madrid, receiving a master in Spanish Law for Foreigners, amongst others. ANTONIO HEREDERO GONZÁLEZ

Practicing attorney since 1994, with an extensive experience in public and private law. Specialized in commercial, bankruptcy and labour law. He has been an associate of Balms Abogados (since 2000), as well as a co-leading partner of the office in Vigo, ever since its opening in 2000. Founding President of Balms Foundation for Children. This organization was established in 2002, aiming to work towards improving the situation of the disadvantaged and marginalized children in countries such as Colombia, Peru and the Republic of Congo. After completing his secondary education in a center of Compania de Jesus in Vigo, he attends the University of Navarra. There he pursues and finishes a Law degree with excellent results. At a later stage, he studies oppositions to State Lawyer for a period of 4 years, being mentored and oriented by one of the most prestigious academies in Madrid. Throughout his continuous training process, he undergoes various professional courses, among which the School of Legal Practice (Complutense University in Madrid, 1955), the PhD. degree from University of Vigo (1996-1997), and a Master’s degree in Corporate Law from the European Business School (1996), are worth mentioning. FRANCISCO GUIJARRO

PARTNER

Law graduate from the University of Granada, specialized in Taxation Law. In 2006, he requested a leave of absence from his job at the time as a tax inspector, to build his professional career as a lawyer specialized in tax matters. He gained broad knowledge of the state and regional tax system as a result of his work experience in the Audit and Inspection office within the taxation sector, which he completed in Provincial and Regional Inspection Units (organs of the State Tax Administration Agency), exclusively dedicated to inspecting specific sectors in economic activities. He also has wide experience in forensic economics and taxation assistance in law courts on economic criminal procedures (tax crimes, punishable bankruptcy acts etc.), as well as in social matters concerning job layoffs and relationships with responsibility referrals and company groups. Furthermore, he specializes in international taxation, especially interpretation of treaties and international deals of double taxation. His expertise covers tax consulting on both national and international level oriented to both companies and different sectors or private individual.

Jose Navarro

MANAGER

Degree in Psychology from the University of Valencia.

He specialized in the area of HR through a master’s degree in HR management at ESIC and labor law at CEF. He has another Master’s degree in retail business administration and management from DEUSTO and strategic sales management from ESADE.

With more than 20 years of experience in the management of shopping centers in companies such as El Corte Inglés, CBRE and Cushman & Wakefield.

JUAN CARLOS LÓPEZ-MORAGO

LAWYER

Practicing lawyer since 1990, with broad experience in Private Law. He specializes in civil and commercial law, although throughout his career he has also worked under jurisdictions of penal and labour matters, which endowed him with a comprehensive perspective of law, useful for providing clients with suitable legal solutions. After completing his secondary education in a private centre, he attended C.E.U San Pablo University of Madrid. Furthermore, he pursued various professional courses on: Labour Law and Social Security (CEF); International Civil Law (CEF), Bankruptcy Law (ICAM) and Corporate Law and Commercial contracts (ESIC); he completed his postgraduate education achieving a Master´s in Human Resources Administration and Management (CEF), and a second Master´s in Private Law and Procedure (CEF). ÓSCAR CASTAÑÓN BAYÓN

Law Degree. At present, the main area of work is Canon Law, and Family. He is an expert in Canonical Marriage Law from the San Pablo CEU University and a Rotal Lawyer, having completed the mandatory degree in the Rotal Study of the Court of the Rota of the Apostolic Nunciature and obtained the Specialty in Marriage and Canon Law. He is an expert in Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure, by the Bar Association of Madrid (member of the VII Special Course in Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure), and in his previous stage in other offices his work has focused mainly on the areas of Urban Planning and Litigation-Administrative Litigation.

DIONISIO PELÁEZ DE SARRIERA

Dionisio Peláez, cursa sus estudios de derecho en el Colegio Universitario San Pablo C.E.U. de Madrid. Una vez finalizados los mismos se colegia por el ICAM en 1990, donde colabora con distintos departamentos del colegio, durante sus inicios profesionales. Posteriormente comienza su actividad en diferentes despachos. Centrándose sus primeros años de ejercicio en las áreas de civil, mercantil y procesal. Cursa un master en la LOPD en ICADE. Durante el ejercicio de su carrera ha atendido y asesorado, entre otros, a varias compañías patrimonialistas. Clientes que por lo general tenían en su haber activos inmobiliarios. Ocupándose tanto de la gestión y administración, como de la inversión y desinversión de los mismos. Asesorándoles en alguno de los casos, en su planificación y estrategia legal, empresarial e inversora. Desde el año 2001 y hasta la actualidad, ha trabajado activamente con la entidad bancaria Novobanco. Habiendo estado especializado y muy centrado en el área de Banca Privada. Área en la que, casi de manera natural los clientes a fin de diversificar su riesgo, suelen realizar inversiones en el ámbito inmobiliario. Participando de una manera muy activa y directa, en algunas de ellas, ya que sus clientes no eran ajenos a este tipo de inversiones. Durante aproximadamente dos años, compagino su actividad en la citada entidad bancaria, con la colaboración en el departamento de inversión de una consultora inmobiliaria; asesorando, mayoritariamente, en transacciones tanto de producto residencial como de oficinas. Lucas Pintó

He began his professional career in the Corporate Department of Ernst & Young Abogados in 2017 in Madrid, joining the Financial and Regulatory Law Department of that firm a year later.

In 2020, he joined BGI LAW in Madrid.

During his professional career, among others, he has participated in regulatory and legal projects in Banking, Investment Services, Insurance and Asset Management.

Paula Álvarez

María González

LAWYER

Law Degree from the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos de Madrid, Master of Access to the Legal Profession and Master in International Law from the Instituto Superior de Derecho y Economía de Madrid, ISDE.

Specialized in Litigation and Arbitration, she is currently a practicing lawyer at the Bar Association of Vigo, after developing her career at the Madrid office of Cuatrecasas, where she was part of the Litigation and Arbitration department.

Salvador Cabello

Practising lawyer in the Extrajudicial Department, specialized in Commercial and Business Law.

He holds a Master’s Degree in Legal Practice from the University of Málaga and a Master’s Degree in Business Law, Arbitration and Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) from ISDE and the Madrid Court of Arbitration.

Keila Merino

Graduated in Law and Business Administration and Management in 2016 from the University of Granada. Subsequently, he completed a Master’s Degree in International Protection of Human Rights at the University of Alcalá de Henares. After completing the required Master’s Degree in Access to the Legal Profession in 2020, she became a member of the Granada Bar Association, being member number 8024.

She has three years of experience in the areas of Civil Litigation and Family Law, areas in which she has been working until joining BGI LAW in 2022.

Alba Márquez

Graduated in Law from the University of Granada and from the University of Bialystok with special mention in Real Estate and Registry Law. Subsequently, he conducted a Master in Foreign Trade at the University of Santiago de Compostela. He has almost four years of professional experience in the field of foreign trade and international business acquired during his career in a large American company, based in Germany.

Following this, he conducted a Double Master’s Degree in Access to the Legal Profession and Business Law at the University of Navarra. Once finished, he became a member of the Madrid Bar Association and started working at Navarro Abogados y Consultores Jurídicos. In the same line, she has been developing professionally as a practicing lawyer in Madrid, in the firm CMS Albiñana & Suárez de Lezo.

He currently practices law at BGI LAW, Marbella.

Amanda Cabello

LAWYER

Litigation Lawyer with over 7 years of experience, skilled in team coordination and the implementation of litigation strategies. After earning a Law degree from the University of Seville, she completed various Master’s programs, notably the most recent one in Corporate Legal Advisory.

Her proactive nature has led her to collaborate with different technology companies related to the development of Lexnet and the automation of judicial processes. She currently practices procedural law in all its facets, providing practical solutions to the legal issues faced by both individual and corporate clients.

CARLOS BADIOLA

ACCOUNTING AND TAX ADVISER

Currently completing his dissertation project to graduate with a bachelors in Law at the Universidad Católica de Ávila. Since 2014, Carlos has formed part of the team of tax and accounting assessors of the Balms Abogados Group, attending to the representational and advisory needs of clients and the compilation of taxes for non-resident persons of Spain. Before arriving at Balms Abogados, he practiced as a banking advisor and worked in various financial entities, boasting experience in commercial and marketing fields, amongst others. He relies on his professional training in management and his studies at the Universidad Carlos III. Carlos has a medium-high level of English.

ISABEL COCA MORENO

ACCOUNTANT

Degree in Business Administration and Management by E.T.E.A. University Institution of the Company of Jesus, University of Córdoba. Master in Fiscal Advice at EADE and University Expert in Accounting and Auditing at the UMA. With more than 10 years of experience in accounting and taxation of companies from different sectors, he has been part of the Balms Abogados team since 2017, developing accounting and administrative advice functions both for individuals and for legal entities.

Graduated in Law from the University of Seville in 2013, he has a Professional Master in Tax and Tax Advice provided by the Cajasol Institute of Legal Studies Business School in 2014. As additional training, he has taken several courses of expert in Taxation of Non-residents and a course on financial and company accounting at the Centre for Tax Studies of Andalusia. He has extensive work experience in tax and accounting advice to companies, individuals and autonomous national and international. After completing his studies, since 2014, he has been a tax and accounting advisor attending to the permanent needs of all types of entities and individuals, accompanying his professional work with continuous learning and training, attending different courses on tax procedure and taxation taught by the Málaga College of Economists and the Spanish Association of Tax Advisors. Graduated in Business Administration and Management from the University of Vigo in 2013, with a specialization in management and organization of companies. With a Master’s Degree in Tax Consulting and Taxation with double degree issued by the Distance University of Madrid and the Center of Professional Initiatives. His work experience begins at the University of Vigo with a collaboration grant in the Research Department of Corporate Social Responsibility from May to October 2013. In addition to participating in a Corporate Social Responsibility congress in Germany with part of the End Project of Degree. Since 2014, he has been part of the team of tax and accounting advisors of the Balms Abogados group, meeting the needs of accounting and tax advice. She develops a bilingual level in Galician and an advanced level of English.

MÓNICA FERNÁNDEZ

Labour Relations Specialist, working in the industry since 2003. Monica has broad experience in the field of labour law and social security. In addition, she specializes in company consultancy. Specialist in Occupational Risk Prevention since 2009. Social and work auditor since 2011. Head of the Labour and Human Resource Department at Balms Abogados since 2016. After having completed her college studies in secretarial work (bilingual programme) at a center in Marbella, she attended The University of Malaga where she graduated with excellent results with a degree in Labour Relations. To consolidate her theoretical knowledge she undertook a work placement at Mutua Universal Mugenat, Mutua for labour-related accidents and diseases. Furthermore, she also attended various professional courses related to safety management for companies: Organic Law for the Protection of Personal Data in Labour Relations (2009), adaptation to the new law regulating social jurisdiction, the Labour Market Reform (2012), Mediation and other strategies for conflict resolution, working environment, mass dismissal procedures, contract suspension and reduction of workday, staff and salary management, update on norms of the social security scheme. BÁRBARA CONEJERO MANEIRO

Licenciada en Derecho por la Universidad de Sevilla en 2009. He trabajado para diferentes despachos de abogados en materia civil y familia, estando colegiada como no ejerciente. Master en mediación Civil y Mercantil por la UNIA Universidad Internacional de Andalucía con el fin de aportar una alternativa a la vía judicial para nuestros clientes en la resolución de conflictos familiares. Actualmente formo parte del departamento laboral de Balms Abogados, realizando todo el proceso de nóminas, seguros sociales, contrataciones y asesoramiento laboral a nuestros clientes. He trabajado en el departamento de personal y RRHH durante varios años especializándome en el sector hotelero, gestionando nóminas, contratos laborales, seguros sociales y asesoramiento laboral a Dirección. En esta rama del Derecho es donde me he especializado profesionalmente y en donde quiero continuar creciendo laboralmente. Cursé un Master en Dirección de RRHH por la escuela de negocios de Madrid y Barcelona para afianzar e incrementar los conocimientos en materia de RRHH que se venían implementando en la empresa, constituyendo y desarrollando un departamento de RRHH consolidado, coordinado y de acuerdo con las políticas empresariales.

Managing Secretary from 2003 to 2006, I worked as managing secretary at Balms Abogados, undertaking all types of tasks corresponding with this job, such as report writing, contract translations, personalized attention to our clients, taking calls, managing the calendars of the partners, records management, and so on. Manager/ Administrator at Balms Abogados since 2010 with vast experience in the fields of management/ administration and processing of administration, tax payment, the filing of both commercial and property deeds, urban planning, services contracting, NIE procedures, all types of processes related to the Department of Traffic, and management of bank accounts.

MANUELA BLANCO

SECRETARY

Executive secretary since 2000, with broad experience in administration. She provides support to company managers, directors and presidents. Her day-to-day responsibilities include: archive and filing, telephone assistance, schedule and travel management, events and meeting organization, e-mail management, preparation of materials, file processing etc. She is currently fulfilling the role of Personal Assistant to the President of Balms Abogados, Mr. Juan Luis Balmaseda de Ahumada y Diez. She has been secretary of Balms Group International (the international network for medium-sized independent law firms, with partners in 18 countries and 5 continents) since 2015. After beginning a degree at the Business Community College of Sevilla, Manuela re-orientates her interests towards the specific field of secretary work, specialization which she decides to pursue instead. Her educational background includes studies such as: Assistance to Management, Efficient Secretarial Techniques and Public Relations and Advertising, courses all delivered by the Confederation of Businessmen in Andalusia. She speaks Spanish, English (C1) and has intermediate knowledge of French.

PILAR ROCHE

Formación académica en relación con el área de secretariado de alta dirección. Su andadura profesional comienza en el sector Jurídico en el despacho del Procurador de los Tribunales D. Argimiro Vázquez Guillen, durante cuatro años realizando las tareas propias del puesto. Durante el periodo posterior trabaja en diferentes sectores, Boxel Telecom, empresa de nueva creación dedicada a la realización de estudios técnicos y proyectos de ingeniería industrial. Inmovelar (nombre comercial Ecumad) dedicada a la organización del montaje de Salón del Caballo de PRE e Ibertoro, en el año de la incorporación laboral a esta empresa, dicho salón se realiza en Zaragoza y el siguiente en Albacete. Posteriormente durante una baja maternal cubre el puesto en empresa sector de la construcción, siempre en todos ellos realizando el trabajo propio del área. En el 2003 retoma el sector Jurídico y desde esa fecha y en la actualidad trabaja en Balms Abogados Madrid, S.L.P. como secretaria. A partir del 2009 pasa a dar apoyo al departamento de gerencia como secretaria administrativa, en las labores propias del puesto, tales como: elaboración de facturas, planificación de cobros, así como pagos a proveedores, confección de presupuestos etc. Durante estos años ha realizado diversos cursos de formación que a continuación se detalla: Experto Manejo de Ordenador, contabilidad Básica, Plan General Contable y Microsoft Excell 2007 V.3 Experto, para su enriquecimiento tanto profesional como personal.
