1. Introduction
   The Government of Argentina has implemented Law 27.742, known as the “Incentive Regime for Large Investments” (RIGI), with the goal of attracting and facilitating significant foreign investments in the country. The law was regulated through Decree 749/2024, which sets forth the specific conditions and benefits for investors participating in this regime
2. Objective of the RIGI
   The RIGI aims to promote investment in strategic sectors of the Argentine economy, fostering sustainable economic development, job creation, and technology transfer. Priority sectors include, but are not limited to, energy, mining, infrastructure, technology, and advanced manufacturing.
3. Key Benefits
   The main incentives offered by Law 27.742 include:
   • Tax Exemptions: Investors can benefit from exemptions on national taxes such as Income Tax, Value Added Tax (VAT), and customs duties for a specified period, which may be extended depending on the size and impact of the project.
   • Fiscal Stability: The law guarantees fiscal stability for investors for up to 10 years, ensuring that taxes directly affecting the investment’s profitability will not be increased.
   • Ease of Capital Repatriation: Foreign investors will be able to freely repatriate their profits and capital in foreign currencies, removing previous restrictions that limited the outflow of foreign currency.
   • Preferential Access to Capital Markets: Projects approved under the RIGI will have preferential access to credit and financing at subsidized rates from both public and private institutions.
4. Requirements and Conditions
   To be eligible, investment projects must meet certain requirements:
   • Minimum Investment: The law sets a minimum investment threshold, which varies by sector but is generally significant (between US$200 and US$600M), ensuring that only large-scale projects can access the regime.
   • Employment Commitment: Projects must generate a minimum number of direct and indirect jobs, thus promoting local development.
   • Environmental Compliance: Investors must comply with all applicable national and international environmental regulations, ensuring that investments are sustainable.
5. Application Procedure
   Decree 749/2024 details the procedure that investors must follow to apply for the regime:
   1. Project Submission: Investors must submit a detailed proposal to the National Investment Agency, which will be evaluated based on its economic, social, and environmental impact.
   2. Evaluation and Approval: Once submitted, the proposal will be assessed by an inter-ministerial committee that will decide whether the project is eligible for the RIGI benefits.
   3. Investment Agreement: If approved, an investment agreement will be signed between the investor and the Argentine State, specifying the rights and obligations of both parties.

BGI GLOBAL Vice President Mr. Washington Fonseca’s Trade Mission Visit to the Kenyan Embassy in Brasilia: Boosting International Networking.

In a recent trade mission, our Vice President paid a key visit to the Kenyan Embassy in Brasilia, accompanied by South African clients, with the objective of strengthening trade relations and expanding opportunities in the African continent. During this strategic meeting, Mr. Fonseca explained to the Kenyan ambassador the importance of our extensive international network and the key role we play on the global stage.

Our Vice President highlighted how our network not only strengthens inter-national relations, but also facilitates the exchange of legal expertise, driving growth and development in various regions of the world. This visit reaffirms our commitment to international collaboration and strengthens our relationships with key partners in Africa.

The attendance of South African clients on this mission underlines the relevance of the partnership between African countries and our network, allowing us to further consolidate our global presence in the sector. This visit to the Kenyan Embassy, thanks to our Vice President and Area Manager for the Americas, marks an important step in our international expansion strategy and reinforces our role as a bridge between emerging and developed markets.

1. 1. The visit took place on 24 June, with the aim of evaluating potential synergies between both firms and the suitability of Lama Abogados, located in Santiago de Chile, who showed great interest in joining our net- work, sharing similar values and standards to ours.
   2. During the meeting, key issues were discussed such as:
      • How our international network works
      • Potential joint projects.
      • Exchange of best practices.
      • Strategies to strengthen presence in the Chilean market.
   3. Our partner was impressed with the quality and professionalism of the Chilean firm’s team. “We are excited about the possibilities that this new addition could bring, not only for our network, but also for our clients in the region,” commented Rosalba.
   4. Following the visit, the next steps were agreed and, finally, in mid- July the membership of the firm Lama Abogados to our network was officially formalized.

During the visit, Mr Summerfield met with the firm’s partners and lawyers to learn more about the firm, its areas of specialisation, exchange information about our network, and discuss how its incorporation and membership would offer added value to both its clients and the clients of our other members. The meeting was highly productive, with a focus on sharing ideas and aligning on common goals.

This visit underlines our dedication to continue to grow and to ensure that our members have access to first class global support. The addition of a Swiss office is a major step in strengthening our presence in Europe and providing our members with access to new markets and opportunities.

Finally, in late April 2024 and after a unanimous vote of the entire BGI GLOBAL Executive Committee, Zaehringen Attorneys joined our network.
